DELLORTO DHLA CARBURETTORS

Gaetano Dell’Orto founded the ‘Società anonima Gaetano Dell’Orto e
figli’ company in 1933

Dellorto is headquerted in Cabiate, Italy where it is still in
operation today.

Initially the company solely designed and produced carburettors for
motorcycle manufacturers such as Guzzi, Benelli & Piaggio.

In the late 1940s Dellorto designed it’s first racing carburettor.
The SS series with a double float chamber for maintaing satisfactory
fuel level during high speed & duration turning, braking, accelerating
etc..

Their attention to cars began in the 1960s with manufacturers such as
Alfa Romeo, Ford, Lotus, Lancia & others using Dellorto’s new
sidedraught twin-barrel DHLA Series orizontal Carburettor.

The Dellorto DHLA sidedraught Carburettor has been synonymous with high
performance Italian sports cars since then.

Their design, quality of manufacture and precision in both engineering
and tunabilty is un-rivalled!
Dellorto DHLA were made in the following sizes:

DHLA 40
DHLA 45
DHLA 48

Dellorto DHLA Carburettors are most commonly used as singles, twins & triples.

The ability to offer up an individual barrel per cylinder and tune it specifically to the requirement of that given cylinder is key to the performance of the engine and a characteristic of the DHLA that is so invaluable.

Changes to chokes, jets, and veturis can be made on the road side. This makes the DHLA very practical as well as incredibly versatile.

They are beautifully designed yet simple, reliable, infinately tunable and adaptable.
They look great, sound great and they’re a great investment as they hardly loose their value.

Today they are fitted as aftermarket or performance upgrades to classic Jaguars, Vw Golfs, Mk1/Mk2 Ford Escorts, Alfa Romeos, Vw Jettas, Aston Martins, Fiat twincams, Lotus Twincam, Cosworths, Ford Fiestas, Minis, MGs and many more..

A balance & throtle lever can be used to connect carburettors side by side for 2cyl, 4cyl, 6cyl etc..

An inlet manifold(s) is required to adapt a standard engine to run on DHLA twin carburettors.
A fuel Pump is essential. This can be a mechanical or electric type such as Facet, Huco, Webcon etc..
Trumpets should be fitted to improve airflow – The longest ones that can be fitted, the greater the airflow will be.
Air filters are essential – Many different types are available (see our shop)
A suitable throttle linkage is required.
A fuel pressure regulator might be required such as a Malpassi Fiter King.
