This 4-page supplement relates to the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the WEBER 40 DCOE carburettors fitted onto the Holbay 1725cc engine as original equipment on Hillman Hunter and Sunbeam Rapier H120.
The WEBER DCOE Carburettor
The Weber DCOE (Doppio corpo orizontale) carburetor was first introduced in the 1960s and quickly became a popular choice for high-performance engines, especially in motorsports.
The carburetor’s design, with two barrels and an open venturi, allowed for a more precise fuel mixture and improved engine performance compared to traditional carburetors of the time.

These little bad boys gave me a headache..
The spindles were rotten and i struggled to find new ones.
And when i did, they came at a pretty penny, plus the pin holes were in all the wrong places.
Pump rod springs were snapped broken, as were the pump rods.

Typical engine start experience when having a left a car for over a year.
At least, an old car.
This is filmed in the UK where the winters can be bitterly cold and damp.
Batteries go flat, fuel evaporates and creates a sediment in the carburettor fuel bowls, which can then clog up the jets.
Here Rob demonstrates the usual way we experience starting our old cars after a long time of no use.
