The AFS-1 offers cost-effective carburettor calibration solutions.
It is now possible to accurately monitor the fuelling characteristics of your engine while driving on road, off road, or on the track in order to assess the calibration of your fuel system, whether it be fuel injection or carburettor.
Using the AFS-1 Lambda air/fuel ratio display unit, mounted to the fascia of your vehicle, you can check that the fuelling requirement of your engine is correct.
WHAT IS THE AFS-1 LAMBDA DISPLAY SYSTEM ?
It is a compact and lightweight lambda display unit and a heated lambda (oxygen) sensor.
The display unit is finished in an attractive black textured casing and features a number of LED indicators which are colour coded to visually assist in quick and accurate fuel calibration.
This AFS-1 kit is a small size display which is ideal for kit-cars or Motorcycles.
(We also offer the AFS-2 which is a larger display kit, suitable for Cars)
The lambda sensor is a high quality original equipment fitment component which is connected to the display unit via a dedicated wiring harness incorporating a system fuse.
A comprehensive instruction pamphlet is included, detailing the fitment components with a wiring diagram and information on how use the lambda display to your best advantage.
Completing the system is a lambda sensor mounting boss, wiring crimp connectors and adhesive velcro mounting strips.
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
The Lambda Display System constantly monitors the air/fuel ratio of the engine using a lambda (oxygen) sensor placed in the exhaust system. This sensor accurately detects the amount of free oxygen (O2) in the exhaust gases, from which the air/fuel ratio can be calculated.
This information is normally used in ‘Engine Management Systems’ to enable the electronic control unit to adjust the air/fuel ratio to the optimum value for vehicles fitted with catalytic convertors.
The Lambda Display Meter utilises this same information received from its own lambda sensor and indicates the air/fuel ratio on the colour coded LED lights, ranging from rich to lean mixtures, typically 12.5:1 to 15.0:1 A.F.R. when using regular pump fuels.
ARE THE AFS-1 and AFS-2 SUITABLE FOR USE WITH MY ENGINE ?
They will work on virtually any 12-volt negative earth/ground vehicle, carburettor or fuel injection system,using regular pump petrol, methanol or propane.
Leaded fuel can be used, but it will contaminate and limit the life of the oxygen sensor.
They are also suitable for use with rotary engines.

IS IT EASY TO INSTALL THE AFS-1 and AFS-2 ?
The sensor installation is very straight forward, you need to drill a 16 mm (5/8″) hole into the exhaust system near the exhaust manifold and weld into position the sensor mounting boss. The wiring harness simply connects to the lambda sensor and display unit, with a power supply from the vehicle battery or a switched source and a good chassis ground earth.
